EU ready to involve Opposition Coordination Council in assimilation of aid for Belarus

BERLIN, August 27. / TASS /. The European Union is ready to involve the Coordination Council of the Belarusian opposition in the development of part of the money from € 53 million of financial assistance to this country from the EU institutions. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Vargelyi on Thursday upon arrival at an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Berlin.
“The European Commission is ready to propose that part of the € 53 million that the EU is ready to allocate to Belarus be distributed through the Coordination Council,” he said. Earlier, the EC announced that of this money, € 1 million will go to the development of civil society, € 2 million – to support victims of the protests, € 50 million – to fight the coronavirus pandemic. All money will be distributed through NGOs.
