Western countries by their actions hastened the beginning of Internet regulation in Russia. This was announced on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“In Russia, they felt awkward all the time that it was time to introduce regulatory measures against the American Internet monopolies,” she said.
According to her, the more US IT companies censor politically inconvenient materials, the more regulatory measures Russia and other countries will take. “And only the Internet monopoly is to blame for this painful tendency,” Zakharova emphasized.
The day before, Zakharova commented on the restrictions imposed on YouTube against the film “Crimea. The Way to Homeland ”and on Instagram against the account of the“ Crimea 24 ”TV channel. According to Zakharova, the restrictions are associated with the next anniversary of the annexation of Crimea to Russia. At the same time, Google said that the age restrictions for the film “Crimea. The Way to Homeland ”was established back in April 2020, and noted that the film is still available on YouTube, but before watching, you need to read the warning about the presence of scenes of violence in it.
On March 10, Roskomnadzor announced that it began to slow down Twitter in Russia due to the fact that the social network does not remove content prohibited in Russia.
