The coronavirus may trigger the aging process in the body, Olga Tkacheva, the chief freelance geriatrician of the Russian Ministry of Health, admitted. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
She pointed out that the possible start of the aging process should be taken into account when carrying out rehabilitation.
Tkacheva added that COVID-19 gets worse with age. In addition, in older patients, in addition to the main symptoms – fever, shortness of breath and cough, delirium (impaired consciousness) may appear. In her opinion, it should also be included in the list of symptoms evaluated during hospitalization and examination.
Earlier it was reported that another rise in the incidence of coronavirus is possible in Russia during seasonal warming, when the temperature rises above zero. This scenario was voiced by Anch Baranova, professor at the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University. According to her, the current decrease in the incidence rate is a temporary phenomenon, but vaccination can change the situation.
