Russia reveals plans for Nord Stream 2

Gazprom has disclosed plans for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The Russian company is exploring options for adapting the project to the updated requirements of the EU Gas Directive. RIA Novosti reports about it with reference to the materials of the concern.
Gazprom also announced its desire to complete the construction of Nord Stream 2 as soon as reasonably possible. The updated gas directive requires that alternative suppliers reserve half of the capacity of offshore gas pipelines entering European countries. However, since Gazprom is a monopoly in gas exports in Russia, the pipe will be half empty if the requirement is met.
In October 2020, the Danish Energy Agency issued Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, a permit to operate in the territorial waters of the kingdom.
