LPR said it shot down a Ukrainian drone

The military of the unrecognized Luhansk People’s Republic said that they had shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The press service officer of the People’s Militia Department of the LPR Ivan Filiponenko said that the drone was adjusting the fire on the village of Molodezhnoye.

“To adjust the fire, the enemy tried to use an unmanned aerial vehicle, which … was detected in time and, as a result of suppression of control and navigation channels, crashed over the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Filiponenko said at a briefing (quoted from the Luhansk Information Center). According to him, the loss of the drone “forced the enemy to stop firing.”

Combat aircraft and UAV flights are prohibited on the contact line in Donbass. The Ukrainian military announced six shelling of their positions in the Donbass on March 13. They are said to have fired back.

The situation in Donbass worsened by the end of 2020. The parties were unable to agree on a “road map” for the settlement of the conflict. The OSCE monitoring mission noted a sharp increase in the number of violations of the ceasefire regime.
