Western countries will be able to recognize Crimea as Russian, subject to a change of political elites in them, MP Waldemar Gerdt said on March 16 (“Alternative for Germany”).

According to Gerdt, today the Western capitals refuse to recognize the status of Crimea, since in this case they will have to abandon plans to expand the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) to the east, which means the defeat of their military-political doctrine.
The deputy added that a referendum in Crimea on joining Russia was held in 2014 in accordance with international law.
